"Personality is a case of mistaken identity"--something Gabriel said today. Another interesting thing is that he refers to himself in the third person, because he is a vessel for something higher. It also allows him to disassociate from his ego. You'd think it would be annoying but I like it. There is truth in referring to himself that way.
During the meditation, during which I almost fell asleep, he came around and touched us in the third eye. After this, I saw moving patterns, almost psychedelic. Later I commented on that and he said it was some kind of kriya and it means that Kundalini energy is moving. He has a real positive and gentle energy, it doesn't seem like he makes up things to placate or please or get a following. If it wasn't anything special, he would just say so.
We also had a moment for those who suffered in Burma and those who will benefit from the monsoons. The monsoons created some larger cracks in the dictatorship, which is why he noted that some will ultimately benefit from the difficulties. In the same way that global warming will destroy the same greed economy that created it. A woman also noted that the union between a man and woman is divine and can affect the weather around them. That is why intention is very important and meditation before the sex act can be very beneficial. I like that, it also shows how meaningless sex can have greater negative repercussions (though I am not exactly sure how).

Who runs these spiritual groups? Is it Cousens himself? I have always been a bit skeptical of raw food gurus who act as spiritual authorities.
Either way this sounds like an amazing & enlightening experience with much to gain from it. I am glad you are enjoying it and are sharing these experiences.
I understand your skepticism, I was also weary of this before I am. But I feel good about it now, so far. They are just ceremonies that they do at Tree of Life, not anything they are trying to spread around. Just practices that work well here. If you read his book Spiritual Nutrition, he says that all spiritual practices contain certain practices in common, and one of them is diet. It seems that the live food at Tree of Life is to help create peace and spiritual awareness, more than to just create physical health. Which is why they also have meditation, yoga, and other services available. If you read the book, he does go into other important spiritual aspects more, besides diet (like prana building etc). I haven't read the whole thing but it is very interesting.
That being said, there is an Essene priesthood here. There is a whole spiritual practice that is holistic, but draws greatly from Jewish tradition. But it seems like you don't have to be interested in it to enjoy the Tree of Life. I am completely non-religious but am pretty comfortable with everything here. It is much better than when I went to kirtan with Hare Krishna's, they were really trying to force something onto me. Here, it is all about your own experience and what works for you.

Hopefully that explains things somewhat.
